Bennie “Buddy” Dizor Griffith, 88, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully July 23, 2012 with his wife by his side.

Buddy was born in Wilmington on April 29, 1924, the son of the late Bennie and Nora Dizor Griffith. He served in the Navy during WWII and retired from Progress Energy after 40 dedicated years as an electrical engineer.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia Wallace and his sister, Lossie Gardell. Buddy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Leatha; his sister, Jane Huggins and husband, Harry; three grand-daughters, Cassi Whitney and husband Rob, Denise Kinney, Deven Boyles and husband Ray, his children Jacob and Kyla; and one great grand-daughter Allyson Kinney.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
