Memorial Gifts & Donations

Christopher William Archer
(AKA: Chris, Archie, Bubby, and his favorite, Uncle Chris)

Born August 16, 1986 , in Wilmington and died unexpectedly after a short illness, on Friday December 25, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Survived by his parents, William V. & Claudia L. Archer; Sister, Jennifer A. Archer (with Derek Reynolds); Nephew, Michael J. Archer. Other surviving family members include Aunts/Uncles, Charles & Carol Ohnmacht, Thomas & Jane Archer, Kathi (Archer) Hanson-Boyce & Ric Boyce, as well as Cousins, Andrea Russo, Christine (Russo) Sullivan, Valarie & Jamie Fowler, Chuck Ohnmacht, Bobby Hanson…and his dog, Roscoe….as well as too many wonderful friends and associates to name.

He has joined, in Heaven, his Grand-parents, William & Dorothy Archer, Charles Ohnmacht & Florence L. Avery; Uncle, Dave Hanson; and his beloved dog, Foxy, and childhood cat, Missy.

Chris graduated from John T. Hoggard High School class of 2005.

He worked for several years as a Deckhand and later a A/B Seaman on Tugboats for Reinauer Transportation Cos. of Staten Island, NY; and then as an appliance & Furniture delivery driver with Sears Roebuck, here in Wilmington.

His hobbies included Surfing, Basketball, Fantasy Football, and hanging out with friends and family. He loved playing with his nephew, Michael, and helped to coach his T-Ball team, and planned to help Michael become the starting Short-stop for Chris’ favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. Chris earned the rank of “Life Scout” during his years in the Boy Scouts, and enjoyed camping and rock climbing with the scouts.

He became Best Friends to all who met him. A gentle soul, who’s actions spoke volumes, as did the humor and grace that he brought to each situation.

There will be a Celebration of Life, for friends and family to remember Chris, to talk freely with others who have been touched by Chris. Because Chris was such a Free Spirit, there will be no dress code for this event….shorts and flip flops would be just fine….Chris would want you to be comfortable. In lieu of flowers, the family would rather donations be made to Chris’ GoFundMe page, to help with Medical expenses and an Animal Rescue Association here in Wilmington.

Service will be Wednesday December 30, 2015 from 7-9 PM at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

    Judie Bruno says:
Dear Claudia and Bill: My heart is breaking for you. No one should lose a child and so wish there was something I could say or do that would take your pain away. With love and gentle hugs.

    Star Land says:
Bill, I think the things you've said about Chris speak for themself. He sounds just like you - kind, friendly, giving, witty, truly a person worth knowing. I join the others in the Papillon community in mourning his death at far to young an age, and at the same time rejoicing that you had such a wonderful son for 29 years and that he no longer hurts. I wish I had known him. You, Claudia, Jenn, and MJ take care, know that we are all there for you with lots of shoulders to rest your burdens on. As always, I will look for Chris' star tomorrow. For sure it will be the brightest one.

    Bobby Hanson says:
It saddens me a great deal that you are no longer with us. I know we only got to see each other once in a blue moon lol, but you were an amazing cousin, Chris. Please rest easy Cuz and say hi to my Dad and Grandma and Grandpa, up in Heaven. You and the entire Archer family are forever In my prayers through these hard times. God has a new recruit in his Guardian Angels, and I know you are watching down on all of us and protecting us Hanson and Archers alike. God Bless that I got to get to know you and you will forever be missed Chris. Your cousin Bobby
