Memorial Gifts & Donations

Christopher Mazzocco, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle died on Saturday, December 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.

He was born on October 18, 1955 in Bronx, New York to Ralph and Terese Mazzocco.

He is survived by his loving wife, Heidi Mazzocco, his daughter Allyson Mazzocco, his son CJ Mazzocco, and his two beautiful grandchildren Ryder and Beckett, along with his mother, sister, Terese Cannon, brother, Raymond, and many nieces and nephews.

Chris was a graduate of Fordham University in Bronx, NY and the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.  He had a long and successful career as a Chef and in management in the hospitality industry. Most recently he was employed by the catering service, Middle of the Island, where he was a loved and valuable member of their team.

Chris was a family man.  He loved his family and cherished their times together. He loved to cook, go camping, walk on the beach and when his family would gather together, everyone was thrilled to have him take over the kitchen as a superb meal was a sure thing.  Chris was a huge sports fan.  He was a life-long, die-hard fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants, who have surely lost their biggest fan. He was a very kind and caring person who was always willing to help a friend in need.  There is no doubt that what Chris loved the most was his beautiful and amazing wife.  They were soul mates that fate brought together 32 years ago and their marriage was a long and happy one that conquered and survived every challenge.  He always referred to Heidi as his “best friend”.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 6, 2018 at the home of Jeff and Alli Wark, 2802 Wind Bluff Circle, Wilmington, between 4:00-7:00. All are welcome to stop in at your convenience, but please note there will be a short service by Pastor Robert Lapp and a time to share your memories of Chris at 5:30.

    Donna Edwards says:
I worked with Chris at Henry's years ago and have only fond memories of him. I'll always remember him for his sweet smile, collards and a tip on how to grill the most delicious scallops I've ever eaten. Love and prayers of comfort to you, Heidi, as well as the rest of the family. He was so proud of you all.
