Debbie Lizzio

August 22, 1954 - August 1, 2017

Debbie Jo (Patrick) Lizzio (62) born August 22, 1954 in Syracuse New York, passed away from Gods Heavenly Earth on August 1, 2017 after fighting from her terminal illness in the care of Hospice while surrounded by her loving family.

Her greatest joy was to see everyone happy; “If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry” were words she would often say.  Mrs. Lizzio was hardworking and passionate about the jobs she held. In the early years of her career she worked at Prince Mastercraft, and Eagle Comtronics. Her latest job as a mail clerk at Lincoln Financial, formally known as Jefferson Pilot in Greensboro, North Carolina was the pinnacle of her career. Her favorite past times that she really enjoyed are bowling, boating, swimming, playing pool and she really loved the ocean.  She also enjoyed collecting butterflies and hearts.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Mr. John Lizzio, the love of her life and caregiver through her last year; her one and only son, Jason Michael Paul (Mary) of Thomasville, North Carolina; three very dear daughters, Yvonne Marie Paul of Liverpool, New York, Britney Michelle Gallipeau (Fiance Bobby Scott) of Hannibal, New York, and Cortney Mae Lizzio (Fiance Chris Elliott) of Green Sea, South Carolina, Step Son Brian Joseph Lizzio (Fiance Rita White) of Wilmington, North Carolina, her treasured grandchildren, Lilly Paige Covington, Walker Douglas Covington, Katelyn Marie Paul, Azriella Savae Przybylski, Lindsay Marie Covington, Joseph Ryan Jones, Mia Rose Ferriola, Charli Grace Scott, along with her siblings David Patrick, Joyce Patrick, Lisa Matteson, her nieces and nephews, and her beloved precious pug Sky.

In addition to her family, Debbie is preceded in death by her very dear friends who have been by her side throughout her illness.

The family would like to extend a deeply sincere gratitude to the Nurses, CNAs and the Hospice Team at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center of Whiteville, North Carolina. Their hospitality and genuine care throughout the year and especially during her final days with us empowered her to pass with dignity and peace.

Private services will be held at the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of the family.
