Doris Dickens Odom of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the age of 103.
Born in Robeson County on May 9, 1914, daughter of the late Fletcher and Clyde Pulley Dickens of Fairmont, NC. She is preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband, Lawrence Chesley Odom; two brothers and one sister.
Doris is survived by one son, Ronnie H. Odom and wife, Patsy of Wilmington; and one daughter, Yvonne Insco and husband, Alton of Wilmington; two granddaughter’s, Angela Riggs (husband Charlie) of Leland and Renee Insco (husband Bill Mickelson) of Key West, FL; two grandsons, Ronnie Odom, Jr. (wife Kimberle Brown) of Chapel Hill and Jerry Odom (wife Casey Bazemore) of Winston-Salem; one great grandson, Ivey Riggs (wife Cara Riggs) of Hampstead; one great granddaughter, Jesse Odom; one great great granddaughter, Lilly Riggs. Until her death, her family consisted of five living generations.
Doris was a long time member and the longest living member of Sunset Park Baptist Church. She was devoted to her Lord, her church, and her family.
A Visitation will be held at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation at 2pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, followed by a funeral service at 3pm. A committal service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
