Dorothy Mae Dew passed away peacefully on August 6, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington, NC. She was a long time resident of Kure Beach, NC.

Dorothy was born on October 5, 1925 in Delco, NC, the daughter of Monroe Wells and Maudie Champion Wells.

Dorothy loved the beach and was an avid fisherwoman up into her late eighties. She was devoted to her family and her church family. She was a faithful member of Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall on Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington, NC.

In 1948, she married Henry Anderson Dew and spent her life as a housewife and mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Monroe Wells Jr., husband Henry Anderson Dew, son Antonio Patsy Garisto and grandson Gregory Keith Dew.

Dorothy is survived by a brother Tim Wells of Vanceboro, NC; sons Henry R. Dew (Judy) of Port St Joe, FL; Gregory D. Dew (Anita Johnson) of Carolina Beach, NC; daughters Sylvia Long (Johnny) of Lake Wales, FL; Jennifer Gail Gatlin of Myrtle Beach, SC and Kimberly Lynn Dew (Juan Perez) of Wilmington, NC; sixteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Wilmington, NC at a later date.

    We always had the biggest best meals at grandmas house and she made the best potato salad and when I'd visit she would make it just for me , she always had all the good family pics and we'd sit for hours and look at pics and talk about the old days ..from fishing on the beach to eating the best BBQ , we made a lot of wonderful memories at Grandma's house and I'll carry them with me forever ...
