Glenn Robison Lockwood

Memorial Gifts & Donations

On October 5,2016, at age 85, Glenn Robinson Lockwood passed away. He is survived by his wife, Marion, son Grant Lockwood and his wife Janet, and daughters Nancy Lockwood, and Jeannie Gates and her husband Christopher.

He was a devoted husband and wonderful father to his children and furry family members.. Recently, Glenn and Marion celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Glenn was an avid reader and bird watcher, and he loved deep-sea fishing and deer hunting. A local businessman, he ran his own automotive service company for about 50 years. His contributed to his community through the Masonic Lodge (he was a mason for 50 years) in Pleasant Valley, NY, and a member for several years of the Rotary Club in Hobart, NY.. He was a veteran of the Korean war in the U.S. Army, with the responsibility to ensure that helicopters could fly safely to pick up the wounded.

After a long illness, his health declined rapidly. At the hospice center,he passed peacefully with his wife Marion and daughter Jeannie at his side.

The kindness of the hospice staff has tremendously helped our family in these difficult days. The love and dignity from all of the hospice staff extended to our family and Glenn gave us such comfort. For this, we are forever grateful.

A celebration of his life will be held at his Wilmington home on Tuesday, October 11 from 4pm to 7pm, and a burial at sea is planned for spring 2017.

In lieu of flowers, we request our family and friends make a donation in memory of Glenn Robinson Lockwood to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care,1414 Physicians’ Drive,, Wilmington, NC 28401.

A passing of a father is like the loss of an anchor for a boat. Though he is gone we are left with the memories and stories of his life to carry with us. With deepest sympathy . . . Christina

We are sorry for your family's loss. As customers of Glenn's repair shop on Rte. 44, we were fortunate to benefit from his automotive knowledge as well as his honesty and work ethic when he repaired our vehicles. He kept his repair shop immaculate and was the cleanest mechanic we ever knew. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.
