James Paul Cain, Jr, fondly known as Capt. Cain, age 78 of Hampstead and formerly of Wilmington passed away Thursday evening February 2, 1017 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.

He was born in Cumberland County, NC on January 21, 1930 to James Paul Cain and Minnie Eugene Moss Cain.

Capt. Cain was a professional Tug Boat Captain for many years working for Stone Towing and McAllister Towing until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Jarrell Cain; his children, Cynthia Sipple, Linda Dennis, James Cain, Laura Severt, Mark Stocks, and Pamela Warren; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one brother John Cain.

The family invites all extended family and friend to gather at the home in Hampstead from 4 to 9 pm on Monday, February 6, 2017.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be planned for later date.
