Larry D. Hicks age 66 departed this earthly life on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He had fought a long battle with kidney disease.

Larry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rebecca “Becki” Hicks; his daughter, Jennifer Hicks Sides (Andre) of Castle Hayne, and his son, Jonathan D. Hicks of Los Angeles, CA; he also leaves behind his sweet granddaughers, Hannah Hall Sides and Daisy Sides who were the light of his life.

Larry had been retired for over four years after a long career in the grocery business, most recently with Haddon House Foods. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially football and basketball. He was a loyal Duke fan and Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoyed playing golf in his leisure time.

Larry always had a smile for everyone and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather “Popi”.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held 7 pm Friday, December 4, 2015 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The family will see friends and neighbors starting at 6 pm and continue after the service.
