Memorial Gifts & Donations

Mary Catherine “Kathy” Bryan Johnson went to be with her heavenly father on April 21st, 2018 at the age of 63

Kathy is reunited in heaven by her parents, Mary Johnson Bryan and Graham Bryan.  Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Johnson, after 29 years of marriage. Kathy is lovingly remembered by her most beloved son, Matthew Johnson of Wilmington, NC along with her daughter-in-law Kayli Johnson; Sisters Betty Warren (with husband Brett Warren and niece Brittany and Gerrod Sidbury and their girls, Stella and Naomi) and Lou Bryan (along with her niece Caroline Madej with daughter Ryleigh and nephew Ricky Madej with son Brently) and her brother Jimmy Bryan and family. Kathy is also treasured by her sisters-in-law Charlotte Costello (along with husband Scott and her nieces Caitlin and Ava) and Nikki Todd (along with husband Linwood Todd and her nieces and nephews, Jesse and Morgan Todd with their children Sutton and Meredith and Leslie and Elizabeth Todd with their children Luke and Natalie). Kathy is also remembered by her two brother-in-laws, Bobby and Barbara Johnson with children, Brenda and David along with Barry and Mitzy Johnson with children, Hannah and Clay.

Kathy was born in Wilmington, NC on October 3, 1954. She graduated from New Hanover High School as a proud Wildcat in 1972. She spent 22 years as the secretary at W.H. McEachern’s Sons Produce in downtown Wilmington and loved everyone she worked with. Bill, Stuart, Heidi, and Missy McEachern along with David Pickett, always had a special place in her heart as she spoke of them often. Her love of Carolina blue oceans to Carolina blue Jerseys radiated throughout her bright personality and spirit. She enjoyed watching Nascar and Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper. In her recent days, there was very rarely a moment when you wouldn’t see HGTV or Chicago Fire on her television. Kathy knew how to live life to the fullest and even more so, love those in her life with absolute, unconditional love. She was a wonderful example of Jesus Christ’s love for us, unwavering and ever so patient. Kathy always knew how to make you smile, whether it be a funny joke or just simply the radiance of her smile reflecting on your own. Her “boys” Matt and Jeff were always her top priority and her biggest source of love and pride. There was simply no stranger to this beautiful woman and what a blessing it is to have been a part of her earthly life.

The funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 24th at 1 o’clock and another at Anchor Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 25th at 1 o’clock with a cookout to follow. Flowers can be donated to Calvary Baptist Church at 423 N 23rd Street Wilmington, NC. Condolences for the family may be offered online at wilmingtoncares.com. Your prayers and thoughts are appreciated by all of the family.
