Rene Joseph Robichaux lll of Wilmington, N.C., born July 9, 1946 in Oak Knoll California, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at his residence .

As a young child he grew up on Harbor Island. After graduation from NHHS, Rene attended Loyola University, in New Orleans and Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge. After college, he worked as a stock broker for a short time.

Rene was preceded in death by his father Rene Joseph Robichaux Jr., mother Inez Baily McKeithan, nephews Clint Robichaux and Alex Hobson.

He is survived by his sister Linden Byrd of Raleigh, brothers Chuck, Denis, and Clark (Jenny) all of Wilmington; nieces Kellie Smith and Leigh Milligan, nephews Keith Bridges and Aaron Robichaux, along with five great nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Oakdale Cemetery.

    I met Rene when I was a caregiver for Miss Inez. After Miss Inez passed, I stayed in touch with Rene and visited his apartment often. I remember when he asked me to set up a trip for him to the Bahamas, but the cost was too much. He gave me a picture of Jesus which I still have. I hadn't talked to Rene for two years, but he was my friend and he will be missed. My condolences to the family for your loss.
