William Carl Snyder, age 68, went to be with the Lord on, Friday, December 2, 2016.

He was born in Tallahassee, Florida on September 5, 1948 to the late William Hilscher Snyder and the late Mildred Marmon Snyder.

Carl had an older brother, Jack Snyder that proceeded him in death, sister Jane Tryer and brother Robert “Bobby” Snyder.

He had two children, daughter Mary Christine Piner,her husband George Owen Piner and their two daughters, Madison “Maddie” Christine Piner and Riley Marie Piner. Son Jason “Jay” Scott Snyder and his Fiancé Emily Suzanne Causey.

Carl was retired from Progress Energy where he had a 30 plus year career as a Lineman 1st class, he also served his country proudly in the US Coast Guard, US Navy, US Marines, & US Navy Reserve, and owned & operated an electrical contracting business Delta Electric Service Co. While working full time and raising his family he also volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, World Changers, was a Deacon at Winter Park Baptist, assisted the youth ministries at Winter Park Baptist & Pine Valley Baptist Churches where he went on several mission trips to South America, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, cooked for the annual Shriners Fish Fry for years. More recently he worked at Early Bread cooking for the homeless and people in need. After retirement he enjoyed working outside in his garden, raising rabbits, chickens and quail, he also was an avid bee keeper. He loved to read and his cooking would draw people from all around. He had a strong relationship with God that resonated in his life. Carl had a passion to bring people to the Lord and especially enjoyed giving out his little wooden crosses that he carried in his pocket all the time.

A service to celebrate Carl’s life will be held at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel on Saturday at 10:00 AM. A presentation of Military Honors will be rendered in recognition of Carl‘s honorable and faithful service to his country.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in his honor to the Church of St. Peter the Fishermen, 314 South Carolina Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28401 where Carl cooked for people in need every Sunday morning.
