William “Bill” R. Avery went to be with his loving bride on September 25, 2015 at the age of 85. William was born on July 14, 1930 in Pender County. He was the son of the late Joe Rhem Avery and Allene Hall Avery; he also was preceded by his wife, Rosalie in 2013.

He was known by many as the handsome man with the fastest cars. William shared a passion for family, friends and his love for soccer. He truly touched everyone’s life that he came across.

William Leaves behind two sons, David Avery and Joel Avery; two daughters, Elizabeth Knotts and husband Kraig and Maria Avery; one brother, Joe Avery; five grandchildren, Morgan, Emily, Destany, Brayden and Madelyn and his close companion, Ruth Sutton.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donnie Lovett officiating.
