Alexander McIlwraith, 89, passed away November 8, 2019. He was born in Queens NY, on October 8, 1930 and was the son of Francis McIlwraith and Mary Macaulay McIlwraith.

He graduated from Hofstra University. Alex serviced in Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife Joan (Ruddiman) lived on Long Island, NY and retired to Wilmington.

He was a faithful and beloved member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Wilmington, NC.

He passionate about and very active in the Cursillo and Kairos Prison Ministries.

His daughter Elizabeth (Beth) McIlwraith Mansi pre- deceased him.

He is survived by his son Bruce McIlwraith, grandson Matthew Mansi, nieces Janice Ruddiman Long and Catherine Ruddiman Pizzitola and many other nieces and nephews.

His friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Saturday, November 30 at 11:00 AM at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 1219 Forest Hills Dr. Wilmington 28403 with Fr. Eric Moulton, Rector officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the evangelical fund being set up in his name at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
