Billy Ray Cartrette, 72, of Castle Hayne, NC departed this world to enter our Heavenly Father’s Home at UNC Chapel Hill on July 15, 2021.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gayle, his daughters and their spouses Karen & Robert Walcott and Kimberly & Darian Howard, his grandchildren Hunter, Nicholas, Victoria, Laila, Marian, Allison, and Julie. He is also survived by his brother Ronnie Cartrette and wife Judy, his sister, Linda Todd and husband Terry, his sister Anita Johnson and husband Gray and his beloved sisters-in-law Donna Daly & Pamela Benton, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his sister Barbara Thompson.

Billy attended Southeastern Community College, Cape Fear Community College and went on to have a long career at GE in Wilmington, NC. Billy was a man of strong faith, a wonderful husband, and father. Billy was a kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed. His memorial service will be held Thursday July 22nd. Visitation will be at 2:30pm at Wrightsboro Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC. service will begin at 3:30pm.
