Carolyn “Sissy” Lidston, 65, passed away on November 20, 2008.

She is predeceased by her first husband Robert (Bob) Gentry in 1983. Her parents Dr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Best of Clinton, N.C.

She is survived by her wonderful caring husband, Stephen “Steve” J. Lidston of Wilmington N.C. and her step-mother and friend Betty Gene Best of Clinton, N.C, daughters Charlotte Callejo, of Fort Lauderdale Fl., Leigh (Clint) Atkinson of Pinehurst N.C, and their children Hunter, Hudson, Grace, and Kesler and son Robert (Wendy) Gentry of Wilmington, NC.

She is also survived by siblings, sister and beloved friend Gay Ann (Robert) Freedman of Raleigh NC; sister, Charlotte Best , and sister Jean (Joe) Bell brothers, Glen “Pete” (Brenda) Best, Theodore “Ted” (Pam) Best., all of Clinton NC, and cousin Mary Murrill of Wilmington, NC. .Sissy is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn fought a courageous battle with cancer. Carolyn was an inspiration to all who knew her. The grace she showed to all those around her was truly encouraging. There is hope. She proved it.

The family would like to deeply express its sincere thanks to Mary Murrill, and to all those who contributed to caring for her through her illness.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 29 at 1:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church on Market Street, Wilmington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to ARID Serenity, 5001 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28403.
