Charles Edward Davis, age 81 of Wilmington passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at his home. He was born in Wilmington on November 29, 1940, to the late Ernest Preston Davis and Katie Wells Cummings.

Charles was preceded in death by his brother Roy A. Davis, sister Faye J. Robinson, brother Norwood P. Davis, mother-in-law (Mom) Joyce S. Barefoot, son-in-law (Son) Steve Landreth, brother-in-law (brother) Robert T. Gooden.

Charles was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and the US Army and was retired from DuPont. He was a longtime member serving as a Trustee, and Deacon at Gibson Avenue Baptist Church. He was most passionate about serving his Lord and Savior. Charles had many talents including mechanical, woodworking, painting, drawing, and story writing.

Charles served his Lord, Country, and family with Great Honor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Joyce (Kathy) Davis, daughter Wendy L. Smith (Steve), son Charles E. Davis II (Pixie), and daughter Joy D. Williams (James); 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; beloved sisters-in-law (Sisters), Linda Hickman (Norman), Tina Harrelson (Danny), Teresa Cannon (Tommy), Toni Forrester (Trey) and numerous special nephews and nieces.

Charles greatest achievement in life was meeting the love of his life, his wife Kathy.

A time of visitation will begin at 12 noon Saturday, April 2, 2022, and his memorial service starts at 1 pm at his beloved Church, Gibson Avenue Baptist Church-2037 Wrightsville Ave. Wilmington, NC 28403.
