Donald Dwight Cook, age 71, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020, at his home.

He was born on May 20, 1948, the son of Howard Hughes Cook and Margaret May McCleney Cook.

Donald worked as a Supervisor at Dupont in the Fabric Manufacturing Division.

Donald served his country with honor and distinction for four years as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife Mae; son Donald Cook II; step sons, Taylor and Shane (Liz) Higgins; grandchildren Maddie and Dillon Cook; sister Delores Long (Jimmy) and lots of nieces and nephews.

Together with his parents he was predeceased by his sister Linda Taylor.

Donald loved to be up in the mountains or out in a stream trout fishing. He loved shag dancing and beach music and being with his friends wherever they were headed or whatever they were up to; but most of all the time he spent with his grandchildren was what he loved the best.

Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation to be held on Friday, February 28, 2020, from 11:00 am till 12:00 pm at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A Service to celebrate Donald’s life will follow at 12:00 pm.
