Frances Josephine Geiger, age 94, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 9, 2018  at Brunswick Novant Medical Center, Supply NC. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 24, 1923, she was the daughter of Charles and Rose Somma. She was the widow of Frank Geiger Jr., with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank and granddaughter Jenny.

A lifelong homemaker, Fran provided a nurturing and loving environment for her husband, two children and later, her 7 grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to read and study geography. She also loved to cook, travel, garden, and crochet. An active advocate for democracy, Fran symbolized American patriotism by actively supporting service members during three different wars.

During the height of World War II, while her husband served overseas in the Navy, she supported the war effort by assembling ordinance. After the war, they relocated to Bergenfield, NJ and had two children, Frank and Lynn. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in law Frank and Debra Geiger, daughter Lynn and son-in-law Buddy Baker. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lisa, Steven, Joseph, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Billy and three great-grandchildren: Eric, Layla, Logan.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:30 am Wilmington  Funeral and Cremation, 525 Village Road Leland, NC 28451.
