Memorial Gifts & Donations

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Grant Thomas Wiedmeier, 17, of Wilmington, died May 8, 2021 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

He was born in Boise, Idaho on July 30, 2003, the son of Kirk and Meagan (Alexander) Wiedmeier. He was a senior at Topsail High School. Those who knew him, for even a short time, knew what an amazing and unforgettable young man he was. He was an incredible son, amazing big brother, fierce protector of those he loved, loyal friend and hard worker. He never met a stranger, and he would quickly smile and make a friend of you upon meeting, and you would be a friend for life. He wore his heart on his sleeve and was one of the kindest souls ever to walk the Earth. He had a hilarious sense of humor and could get a room going with one of his impeccably placed one-liners. He was always willing to help anyone in need, and you could count on him to be there and give the shirt off his back. Boise was always his home and he had a huge network of friends and family there. He loved the BSU Broncos and was a fan for life. He had recently moved to Wilmington and had finally found his niche. He had a fantastic group of friends who really helped him feel like this was his home and a place where he fit in. He was an amazing cook and loved to try new foods. He was also an accomplished woodworker and made many beautiful projects including a magnificent mahogany swing as his senior project. He had a love of the outdoors and was a true sportsman. Any chance he had to go hunting or fishing, you could count him in. One of the proudest moments for him was bagging his first wild boar this fall.

He is survived by his parents, Kirk and Meagan Wiedmeier; his sister, Katie, and brother, Fletcher. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Jim and Susan Alexander; and paternal grandparents, Del and Sue Wiedmeier. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives.

The celebration of life memorial will be at 2pm Saturday, May 15, 2021 outdoors in the grassy area next to Scott’s Hill Baptist Church, 185 Scott’s Hill Loop Rd, Wilmington, NC 28411.
