Jane P. Mitchell of Wilmington, North Carolina and formerly of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Wilmington, Delaware, died on October 12, 2009 at her home on Reston Court. She was 100 years old.
The daughter of Olive and John Potts, Jane was born on September 20, 1909 in New Albany, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Hardin D. Mitchell, and twin daughters, Nan and Jane, who died at birth.
She is survived by two sons, H. Dean Mitchell and his wife, Donna, of West Chester, PA and Dale Mitchell and his spouse, David Imming, of Boston, MA; three grandchildren, H. Dean Mitchell III and wife DeLane, Allison Hubble and husband Doug, all of Raleigh, N.C. and David Mitchell and wife Allison of Washington, D.C.; and one great grandson, Chase Landon Mitchell.
Jane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, where she served as a Deacon and a member of Circle #4, a Presbyterian women’s organization. She was a member of P.E.O., the Cape Fear Garden Club, Cape Fear Country Club, and the local Duplicate Bridge Unit.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 125 So. Third Street, at 2PM on Thursday, October 15, 2009. A reception for family and friends will follow.
She will be buried next to her husband and daughters at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Mitchell’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, North Carolina.
