Jered Michael Sawyer, 33, of Castle Hayne, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019.  Jered was born in Wilmington at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital on November 12, 1986 to Michael Norwood Sawyer and Debbie Faw Boyd.

Jered was known to many as a sweet, loving person with a contagious smile that could always brighten your day and make you laugh with his witty personality. Jered was a giving and caring person that loved his family and friends. He loved all animals but his favorite was his beloved dog Zoie Zojangles.

Jered had several hobbies, especially skateboarding, a passion which he carried on from his childhood. He was known as a hard worker and like many in his family Mr. Sawyer was a talented craftsman and landscaper. Currently he was employed as a landscaper with Lawngevity of Hampstead.

Jered was preceded in death by his maternal Grandparents, Arnold Glenn and Barbara Jane Maness, his uncle Gary L Faw, an aunt Jacqueline Sue Maness, and his cousin Jacob.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sawyer is survived by his stepfather Thomas Boyd of Castle Hayne, stepmother Patti of Wilmington,  half sister Jessica Sawyer of Wilmington, paternal grandparents; Tom and May Sawyer of Wilmington, uncles; Wendell Sawyer and wife Sherry of Dover, OH, Randolph Sawyer and wife Becky of Wilmington, aunts; Bobbie F. Whitley and husband Larry of Leland, and Sharon D. Maness of Wilmington, cousins;  Jody and husband Craig, Kirby and wife Heather, Angela Hansley and husband Terriel, Josh and Niccole, Andy and wife Jennifer, Caroline, Elisabeth, and numerous other extended family. Jered also leaves behind many close friends.

A memorial service will be held at Harbor United Methodist Church, 4853 Masonboro Loop Rd, Wilmington, NC 28409, on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2pm with the Reverend Emily A. Mills and 1st Lieutenant Kirby Whitley officiating.
