John Albert "Johnny" Strickland

November 22, 1945 - January 19, 2021

John Albert Strickland “Johnny” was born on November 22, 1945 to George Strickland and Pauline Strickland in Wilmington, NC. On January 19, 2021 Johnny joined his mother and father to be with the lord in heaven. Johnny was a loving Son, Husband, Father and Grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn Faye Strickland, his son Dale Strickland and his stepchildren, Sharon Schiller (Stan), Reginale Evenson (Debra), Cathy Evenson-Nifong (Dale), Patty Mincey, Michael Evenson (Lisa), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild whom he loved and cared for dearly.

Johnny served in the US Army, he logged over 3 million miles for many reputable over the road trucking companies. Johnny was a long-time fixture of SR&R Environmental Inc. and the Shipyard, with an unmatched ability to fabricate or repair anything under the sun. Johnny instructed, informed, and inspired a generation of people in the ways of mechanical systems and the world at large. Johnny was one of a kind that was willing to help anyone at the drop of the hat. He would give you the shirt off his back or drop whatever he was doing to help anyone in need, especially his family. He will forever be missed!

The family will hold visitation from 4pm – 6pm on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with a funeral service 2pm on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Paul Waters of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
