Leon Milner, 86, of Leland, NC, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 after an extended illness.

He was born in Irwin County, Georgia, July 23, 1934, son of the late Quintus Green and May Bell Johnson Milner. Leon is predeceased by his parents, sisters and brothers, Raleigh Milner, Laura Tomberlin, Ruth Abercrombie, Ester Milner, Ben Milner, Magdaline Grantham, and Rachel Howell, and his son-in-law, Gerald Paraday, Sr.

He attended High School in Ocilla, Georgia.  Following High School, Leon joined the United States Marine Corp.  He is a Korean War Veteran who faithfully served his country for nine years in the United States Marine Corp as a Staff Sergeant.  After serving our country, Leon owned a mobile home business. This was followed by working for several Construction Companies as Superintendent of Construction, working in the Nuclear Plants Industry, and ended with his own construction company.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanine Greenamyre Milner, his children, Lester Milner, Wesley Milner, spouse, Jeri, and their daughters, Brandy and Rena; Richard Milner, spouse, Terri, and their daughters, Shannon and Haley; and Ellen Paraday, and her sons, Gerald Jr. and Christopher, and eight great-grandchildren.  Leon is also survived by a Special Niece, Frances Bailey, and her husband, Owen, and Special Nephews, Roy Tomberlin and wife, Joy; and Buck Tomberlin, and wife, Linda; his Sister-in-law, Leanne Dorathy and Brothers-in-law, Dwaine Greenamyre and Rodney Greenamyre, along with their families, and a Special Friend, J. R. Kelly and spouse, Carmelita.

Leon was an avid golfer.  He enjoyed playing on different golf courses throughout the years.  He participated in golf tournaments, and was awarded several trophies as a result of his love for the sport of golf.  Leon also chaired golf tournaments to raise funds for charity.

He was a member of Pulaski Lodge #415, F & A.M., Pulaski, NY, Shriners International, the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York, and Scottish Rite Central City Bodies, A.A.S.R. Valley of Syracuse.  Leon is also a member of Goldenrod Chapter No. 142, Order of the Eastern Star, Wilmington, NC.

Leon’s family would like to thank Dr. Rudyk, and the staff at the Senior Health Center for their care of Leon, and Liberty Hospice Care for their care of Leon in the final days of his life.  We thank the many friends, who have helped Leon’s caregiver throughout the years.

No Memorial Services are planned at this time.
