Lisa Gaye Staten Baker 67, of Murrells Inlet, SC. Went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2021 following several months of declining health.
Lisa was born in Huntington, WV to Robert and Patricia Jean Townsend Staten. She graduated in 1972 from Huntington Vinson High School in Huntington, WV.
Lisa attended the College of West Virginia in Beckley WV and Coastal Carolina University/Horry-Georgetown Vo-Tech in Conway, SC.
Lisa previously worked for the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services and Surfside Reality Company.
Family meant the world to Lisa and she loved each one of her family deeply. Her door was always open to her children’s friends and everyone who entered her door was treated with love and respect.
Lisa loved her West Virginia mountains, but she also loved lighthouses and her coastal life in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was happiest with Bedford casting nets on the beach, on some remote island, or catching and sorting through the creatures of the sea. She was a great cook specializing in Italian, Sicilian food and her seafood dishes. Her peanut butter fudge would put Paula Deen to shame.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Staten, sister, Shelli Renea Staten of Shady Spring, WV
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bedford L. Baker of Murrells Inlet, SC.
Sons, Mike Staten and wife Sheryl of Eagle, Co and Robert Carter of Chesapeake, Ohio
Stepdaughter, Melody Ann Quesenberry and Husband Scott of Eagle River, Ak
Sister, Tammy Staten Young of Cleveland, TN and Nephew Ryan Young of Calhoun, Ga
Grand Children, Brooke Ann and Shaelyn Renea Staten of Eagle, Co and Austin and William Quesenberry of Eagle River, Ak
Also left to cherish her memory are a plethora of in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles who will work together to try to fill the void she left behind. We cannot forget her best feline friend “Boots” who worshipped her.
A casual memorial service will be held on Friday, September 24th from 4:00-800pm for Bedford and Lisa at the Holiday Inn and Suites 114 Dry Hill Rd Beckley WV.
Graveside services will be private and for family only. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to National Park Service, Outer Banks Group, which oversees the Cape Hatteras National Seashore Lighthouses.
