Lydia Marie Ess, age 99, of Wilmington, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Bradley Creek Healthcare.

She was born in Baltimore, MD., on July 8, 1920, the daughter of George Voelp and Lena Mielke Voelp.

Lydia worked for many years in Retail Food Stores, most notably Food Fair and Pantry Pride.

She is survived by her son Frederick Ess and wife Joyce and daughter Donna Ess Beaulieu; grandchildren Tammy Ess Garrett and husband Rick, Ricky Ess, Alison Ess, Todd Ess and wife Andrea and step-grandchildren Ann Hovermale and Frank Lowman, IV; great grandchildren Zachary Ess, Brayden Ess, Ryder Ess and step-great grandchild Bryce Lowman.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the Mayo United Methodist Church in Edgewater, MD. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm till 1:00 pm.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 13, 2019, at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Mayo United Methodist Church, 1005 Old Turkey Point Rd. Edgewater, MD. 21037, in memory of Lydia, would be greatly appreciated.
