Marion Capps 87, of Leland passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Marion was born in Marion County, SC on September 26, 1932 the son of the late Thomas Franklin and Leona Whaley Capps. He served his country in the US Army, then went on to serve his community with the Wilmington Fire Department, until retirement as Fire Department Captain. After his retirement in 1985 he went to work part time with the North Carolina ABC stores. His wife Ethel Sego Capps preceded him in death in 2014.

He is survived by his children sons Marion Terence Capps and wife Cindy; John David Capps and Stephanie Connor; daughter Vicky C. Koester and husband James. Eight Grandchildren

The family will see friends 10:00-11:00 AM Monday, September 28, 2020 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A graveside funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Long time friend and fellow fireman and former chief Reverend Sam Hill will officiate the service. Military and Fire Honors will be rendered.

Pallbearers will be Chris Durham, Kendall Durham, Sean Capps, Seth Grady, James Koester and Greg Newton.
