Michael W. Monroe, 56 of Wilmington passed away December 27, 2009 at his residence.

He was born to William and Ruby Monroe who preceded him in death.

Michael is survived by Susan Willis, of the home, his son Michael Floyd of Sylva, NC, two granddaughters Haley and Andrea Floyd, one brother Terry Monroe and wife Donita, sisters Carol Hardy and husband Ron, Linda Moore and husband Johnny all of Wilmington, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Georgianna Willis, of Northampton, MA., Barbara Sanders, Bill Sanders and children of Wilmington and Alabama, Jamie Sanders and children of Cliffside and Wilmington, NC.

Michael was an avid fisherman, both freshwater and salt. He took great pleasure in sharing his fishing knowledge with others at Greenfield Lake where he found peace and tranquility throughout his life. In addition to fishing, Michael loved wildlife and his dogs, Abby, Megan and Taz.

The family will receive friends from 2:30PM – 4:00PM, Friday, January 1, 2010 at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service.

    i knew mike since he was a teanager. what a happy person he was. i didnt see him much but when i did he always had a hug and a smile. he will be greatly missed. i wish all the family my prayers for peace during this hard time love marilyn
