Naomi Magdalene Eanes/Shippee

October 6, 1921 - March 20, 2019

Naomi Magdalene Eanes/Shippee went to heaven peacefully on March 20, 2019, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, in Wilmington, NC. Born in 1921 in Ringgold, VA, she was married to Burton T. Eanes for 21 years and to James Shippee for 42 years. She lived most of her adult life on the peninsula.

As a member of the former Copeland Park Baptist Church (now West Hampton), she introduced her children early in their lives to her faith, which she strongly maintained. She spent most of her years as a homemaker, although she greatly enjoyed her work later in life as a sales clerk in women’s clothing in Nachman’s department store in Newport News.

Predeceasing her were both of her husbands, her daughter Nora E. Kayton, her son David Eanes, and her stepson, J. D. Shippee. She is survived by her twins, Magdalene (Bonnie) E. Myers and Burton T. (Tommy) Eanes, Jr., and daughter Linda E. Lashley, all of Wilmington; stepdaughter Margaret Shippee of Biloxi, MS; grandsons Jack T. Kayton, III, and Burton E. Eanes; granddaughter Karin M. Lawin; and several great-grandchildren.

Her ashes will be inurned at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Wilmington, NC. Her spirit will be with God.
