Paul Andrew Payne M.D., age 57, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at his home.

He was born on October 18, 1961 in Craig, CO., the son of Dr. Robert Payne and Doris Kendall Payne.

He is survived by his wife of 30yrs, Denise Payne and his son, Ryan 24 yrs old. He also is survived by his parents, Dr. Robert and Doris Payne and siblings, Ellen Jensen and Kendall Payne.

Denise and Paul considered themselves best friends as well as the love of each other’s life. Ryan always considered his father his foremost role-model in his life and the source of his ever-growing passion for both listening to and playing music.

Paul was a Cardiologist at Wilmington Healthcare since moving to Wilmington 17 years ago. He was well loved by colleagues and patients alike.

    Dr. Payne played a major part in saving my life. He conducted an angioplasty and discovered major blockage, He sent me immediately to NHRMC by ambulance where I had emergency stents implanted. I will always be thankful and blessed to have know him. My deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones.
