Memorial Gifts & Donations

Raymond Vincent Donaton passed peacefully into the Lord’s hands on December 20th, 2018.

Ray was born in the Bronx, New York and enjoyed summers on the beaches of Long Island. He attended The University of Maryland, was an All-American track star and competed in the Penn Relays.

Ray was a true patriot who loved his country and served in the US Army National Guard.

Prior to relocating to North Carolina, he and his father ran a successful office furniture business.

Ray was a history buff, loved to read, enjoyed debating, biked regularly and was a passionate gardener. Most recently, Ray fulfilled his dream of owning a farm. He loved tending to his fields of vegetables, sweet potatoes, and sunflowers.

Ray will reunite with his mother, Loretta Donaton, and his father, Raymond Donaton, Sr. in eternal peace. Ray is survived by his wife, Nancy Donaton; sister, Joanne Donaton; three children, Stephanie Weber, Justin Donaton and Adam Donaton, their spouses, three grandchildren and his loving dog, Nellie.

One of Ray’s favorite sayings and a motto which exemplified his life was, “Do the right thing, even if no one is looking.”

In lieu of flowers, Ray wishes were that any donations be made to the Wilmington chapter of the Salvation Army or All Saints Anglican Parish in Wilmington, North Carolina.

My sincere condolence for your loss. Ray will be missed. May you be comforted in knowing that God has promised a resurrection, Acts 24:15. Also Isaiah 26:19 says in part, "Your dead will live. And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." May the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort Jehovah grant you peace in his promise of the future resurrection, 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4. As promised by his beloved son Jesus, all who are in God's memory will return to life, John 5:28, 29.
