Robert “Bob” Richardson, age 95, passed away on November 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Logan, WV to the late Robert Richardson I and Delilah Chapman Richardson. He is also predeceased by his son Robert III, granddaughter Megan O’Donnell, two stepsons, Kevin and Darryl Hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley, one sister Virginia Patterson, daughters Debbie Parker (Dennis) and Carolyn Winslow (Tim), son Chris (Kim),stepson Steve Hunt (Beth), granddaughters, grandsons, great granddaughters and one great grandson.
Bob was proud of his service to his country. He loved to talk about his experience in the Army Air Corp. Bob worked for Southern States Cooperative in Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. After retiring he moved to Richmond, VA. where he started Triple R Aircraft Sales. Bob loved his life and flying his airplane was his joy. He traveled across the United States several times buying a plane and flying it home.
After moving to Wilmington, NC he joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He worked with the Auxiliary for several years, flying for them and also using his boat. He was a member of the Quiet Birdman and he enjoyed the time he spent with that group of pilots.
A Service of Life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 2 PM at Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 4501 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
In recognition of Bob’s honorable and faithful service to his country the United States Army Honor Guard will render Military Honors.
