Memorial Gifts & Donations

Sybil Jewel (Cottle) Chandler, 69, of Leland, NC, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. Her absence will be felt by all that knew her.

She had an outgoing personality, a contagious laugh, and a beautiful smile. Even in her final weeks, she had family laughing and enjoying their time together. She never met a stranger and was always available to offer advice. She loved the beach and loved to dance. As one of her last wishes, she wants everyone to remember her for the way she lived her life with lots of laughter and love. She would not want us sad, but excited to know we will see her again soon, until then she will be dancing in heaven and watching over us all.

She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Jerry Chandler; her sisters Dreamer Alston and Debora Cottle; her sister-in-law Brenda Ann Chambers; her daughter-in-law Mechelle Bullard; her grandchildren Cameron, Crystal, and Destiny; her great grandchildren Lea, Marley, London, Layla, Mercy, and Chase; and numerous nieces and nephews including Jeannie, Serena, Troy, Calvin and their children, along with Tala and Kenan. Also, leaving behind are her Life Long Best Friends Arlene and Billy White, Best Friend “Ethel” Kathy Cooke and Justin Foster. She leaves a wonderful church family to continue the journey of sharing God’s word to the world.

She was greeted at Heaven’s gates by her parents, Donald P. Cottle, Sr. and Peggy, brother Donald P. Cottle, Jr. and her son David Bullard.

There is a Memorial Service for Sybil planned on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2:00pm at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation in Wilmington, NC.

Her service will be officiated by Rev. Arnold Griffin of Fellowship Baptist Church of Murrayville; Pastor Roscoe Harris of Wilmington, NC and Chaplain Retired Sgt. Lisa Kittrell of Castle Hayne, NC.

    Kristy says:
Had the pleasure of her being one of my patients at the pharmacy. Our last conversation, just like many of our others, was very warm and joyful. She was a special patient in our pharmacy. Absolutely loved Jerry and worried for him so much even when she was sick. Didn’t have the pleasure to personally know her, but just our interactions were enough to tell me how beautiful her soul was. Many condolences to the family.
