Mr. William L. Farabee, Jr., was born on August 21, 1931, to the late William and Anne Farabee, and passed away on September 16, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, completing his journey of 90 years.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from the hours of 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Bill served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, he was a pilot for 5 years and stationed at Andrew’s Air Force base located in Washington DC, where he met the love of his life of 66 years, Ruth Farabee. He was also a faithful employee for the FAA, where he worked for 39 years as a air traffic controller. In his spare time he enjoyed wood working, and was a dedicated fan of UNC Tar Heels.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife: Ruth Farabee; two sons: William L. Farabee III, (Mary); Steven L. Farabee (Rachel); one daughter: Deborah R. Farabee; two sisters: Nancy Revis (Jim); Don Almond (Larry); four grandchildren: Lars (Elizabeth); Lukas (Victoria); Wil; Katherine (Aaron); two great-grandchildren: Elliot; Eleanor; along with a host of relatives and friends.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by one sister: Betty Wilson Dayvault.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastors Mark Opgrand and Jonathan Conrad officiating. Burial with Military honors will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in his name.
