William Richard Scoggins, age 79, of Leland, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at home in the warm embrace of his family.

He was born on June 20, 1939, in Leland, the son of Alec Scoggins and Gretta Mintz Scoggins.

He is survived by his son, Richard Wayne and his wife Rebecca Scoggins of Leland, two daughters, Sherry Scoggins of Leland and Vickie and husband Charles Mintz of Winnabow; three grandchildren, Tabitha and husband Omar Campos of Leland, Charles Jared and wife Kyndall of Leland and Daniel Jacobs Mintz of Leland. Also surviving are 2 great-grandchildren, Miranda Campos and Bryan Campos.

Together with his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Shirlene Skipper Scoggins.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Farmers Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 3459 Maco Road NE, HWY 87 Leland, NC. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made to St.Jude Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis TN. 38105-3678.
