Condolences for Dr. Gary Evan Welliver, MD

I'm so very sad about Gary's passing. I know he's in heaven playing tennis, running and has a little red sports car to ride around in. All the things he loved. I remember when his Mom was so ill and was staying with them for her radiation treatments. He bought her a little red sports car because he knew she would love it and he loved her so much. He adored his family and was so proud of all of his boys. He adored his Kris and couldn't do enough for her when she was going through her illness all those years ago. He was a great Dr. and surgeon. He loved Orthopedics and was truly one of the best surgeons in North Carolina. I really loved him but I know he's happy and pain free now and probably talking the ears off friends who went before him. I wish Kris and the boys peace and contentment knowing that. I will never forget him and his wicked sense of humor and will miss him. Rest well, Gary, you deserve it.

Dr. Welliver and I worked together for 17 years when he was in the Banner Elk area. He was one of the most amazing bosses ever. Never said an unkind word and was always working for his patients to see that their needs were met. My love and prayers go out to Kris, whom I love dearly and his family, that always felt like my own.

Doc was a great gentleman. He helped my entire football team by performing physicals for all the boys at no charge. He was constant on the sidelines watching his son, Joe, play ball and throw the discus. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his sons and their families and to his wife. Rest in Peace Doc.

The family let my brother and I stay with them while we were transferring from another high school. The whole family welcomed us with open arms when most of the people in the community did not. Great man! Great family! RIP

Gary and I worked at the St Mary's Tileston and Cape Fear Orthopaedic Clinics. He was deeply committed to providing the best care to the patients, concerned for their needs and welfare. In spite of his own health, he gave many hours of care. We will miss you Gary.

Please except my condolences. May you find comfort in knowing that your dear one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about him and bring him back again. John 5:28, 29 gives this assurance.

For several years, Dr Welliver volunteered his medical expertise at St Mary's Health Center on Ann St in Wilmington. He always tried his best to help everyone and always with a smile. He was a class act.
