Thoughts and prayers to Elmer's immediate family. I am a 2nd cousin to Elmer. My Grandmother was Mary E. Ramsey Tompkins, daughter of Robert Tate Ramsey. I did not know the Ramsey side of the family, other than by name and hearing my mother talk about the Ramsey side of the family. I wish I would have had a chance to meet more of the Ramseys'. I did talk with Cristine, Elmer's Mom back in the 90's when I was doing some family tree study. I also talked with Scott Ramsey some also. Anyway my prayers are with you. May God bless and give you strength during this time.

My deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the entire family. I first met Elmer about 44 years ago when he and my father volunteered at Castle Hayne Volunteer Fire Department. Later, when I was old enough to officially join, Elmer was my first fire chief. While there were others who influenced me, my father and Elmer were my two earliest influences that shaped my thoughts serving my community. My fondest memories outside the fire department were the times Elmer shared some of his favorite deer hunting spots with us.
