Have not connected with Dan since college years (Rho Chi), but have only the fondest of memories of frat years in Richmond. Sorry to hear of Dan's passing, but know he was a true and tough Spider. Prayers to the entire family and his legacy.

Dee Dee and family. I was saddened and shocked to hear of Danny's passing. I knew him from UR. We were pledge and frat brothers at Phi Gam. I always liked and respected Danny--we lost touch after college but my memories of him are vivid and I can still see him as I last did many decades ago. I always appreciated the respect Danny showed toward me in college--his big mischievious smile--and his never ending spirit. I wish to express my condolences and tell you that I have never forgotten Danny Cantrell even if we have not talked in such a long time. Sincerely, Les Lilley

Dee Dee, it’s been several years since we worked together. You and Dan were the loveliest couple at Brown & Williamson. He was taken way too soon. My prayers are that God gives you peace and comfort in the days ahead. You two were perfect together and have a beautiful legacy of love.

Our deepest sympathies to his family. I just heard of his illness and am saddened that I did not have a chance to say hello again personally.. . We/I had the privilege to work and know Dan over the years and he will be missed by all of us. His smile, laugh, stories always made our work times and projects enjoyable. And successful too.. He was extremely smart but never condescending...always interested in hearing your views and thoughts. The kind of guy you liked from first meeting. My thoughts, prayers, and well wishes are out to his family and friends.

My condolences to Dee Dee, to brother Dave - my other Wi Hi Homeroom buddy- and to the rest of Dan's family. Dan was quite often the first guy I would talk with daily during those high school years. It has been so rewarding to reconnect with Dan through Messenger social media after all these years gone by. His smile and "fight the good fight " spirit will be sorrowfully missed.

Cantrell Family - Please accept the condolences of the Fagg family during this trying time. I was blessed to work with Dan for several years after the merger. Some of that time we were peers, and other times he reported to me ... but he was always a mentor and friend. I agree with other comments that Dan always had that infectious smile, laugh, and possible jape ready. The world was a better place with him in it, and missing something special with him gone. He will not be forgotten.

Dee Dee and family, I am praying for you during this difficult time. When I first joined the company, Dan told me that he was going to mentor me. When he said this, I just assumed he would mentor me within my career, but I was wrong. Dan took the initiative to mentor me not only in day to day work but also on a personal level and I have grown tremendously because of his guidance. Dan was full of wisdom, guidance, and humor… and always willing to share. He will greatly be missed.

I remember Dan and Dave as being polar opposite twin brothers in elementary school. Danny could make someone laugh out loud in class because he could fart on demand. He used to have a beautiful head of blond hair and amazing blue eyes which were the first thing a person noticed about him. Danny lived in my neighborhood, so it wasn't unusual to see him seven days a week, always having a great time with his friends, riding his bicycle, or just being a boy. Davy was quieter and the perfect balance for Danny in their early years. In high school, they were both good-looking popular guys who caught the eye of many of the ladies. But most of all, they were kind and caring and left both an academic and social legacy to the class of 1967. I was so saddened to hear that Danny lost his battle, and I feel a bit empty today. I am praying for his family and friends. He lived his life to the fullest, and he will not be forgotten. Heaven has become just that much sweeter, and he is in no pain.

Dee Dee, Ryan, Heather, Allie and Danielle, My heart is broken for you, Dan was such an amazing person. He was a kind, patient and a humorous man. I have so many fond memories working with him for 30+ years. Oh my goodness the stories he would tell and they would drag on and on, it was always worth listening (and waiting til the end) because I'd end up laughing so hard with him. Heaven gained an angel yesterday. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I pray you find comfort in the days to come. Glenna
