James you were my brother from another mother. I am so proud to call you my friend and will cherish all the jokes and your friendship. Missing you brother!

James was one of the most knowledgeable nurses I have ever had the honor of knowing. Coming in for a shift and seeing his name under C2R2 put everyone at ease. I was always able to ask him to look at a patient, he always listened to my input and made me feel heard. Not only did he help me assess and intervene with patients, he always explained it in a way that I was able to learn and keep those skills for myself. That was probably my favorite things about him; that he always taught, he always listened, and he always advocated for our patients. Thank you James, for being a nurse I want to be. My sincerest condolences to his family, I hope you are well and safe. We all love you!

James was my husband and is the father of my youngest daughter. If anyone was meant to be the father of a little girl, it was him. He was terrified when he found out we were having a girl. James called her his Moonpie Princess Baby. It was the sweetest thing ever. I never thought I'd be raising her without him. This doesn't seem real. RIP James, I will raise our little girl to remember her father

So sorry for your loss. It's also a loss to us, the nursing staff, as he was a great resource that we called on often. A terrible shock and I pray for his wife and children.

James was such an amazing nurse. When we needed something on 2 I knew we could count on him. I remember vividly I had a patient with an extremely low BP. I was feeling like I was crazy and James reassured me that I was doing everything I could. He always made us feel at ease. Thank you James for being the best resource nurse. Not only having our backs in tough times but always making us laugh on the floor! Thoughts and prayers to Michele and his family.

Still doesn’t seem real, certainly isn’t fair. James was a remarkable RN; his clinical judgement exceeded many of his physician colleagues. He had an exceptional ability to listen and I never experienced him speaking unkind towards anyone. I expected to work years alongside James and develop a great friendship. My condolences to his family. The NHRMC community is indebted to James and his family and I hope there will be no hesitation for family to reach out for any assistance during this hard time. If it were up to me, we would name a wing of the hospital after him. Rest In Peace James, you will be missed.

You were so very important in 2 of my children's lives. A friend and big brother. We will always love you. I am very grateful for your mother who has been a dear friend for many years.

What can you say about a man who I looked up to as a nurse who when I called on would come and assist me in taking care of my patient in need. Always available to my questions. He always knew when I wanted to ask a question or when I needed him to do something for me just by the way I said his name. Jaaaames, then he would say what do you need me to do and he would always come for me. I always respected him as a nurse and valued coworker it won't be the same without him there. Your memory will live on via family, friends and co-workers. Rest in peace James....

James has been a part of my family ever since he and my cousin Michele began dating. I was so happy to be able to celebrate their marriage at their wedding last September. James was fun-loving, kind, a terrific father, an incredible nurse, and an amazing partner and husband to my beautiful cousin. I will always remember swapping nursing stories, karaoke nights, going to downtown Wilmington and the Fat Pelican, and the fun times we had at the beach house. I will also always remember how he wanted our whole family to be a part of his proposal to Michele at the river walk; he was so nervous before and completely elated after she said yes. James will be greatly missed, and whenever I hear Linkin Park I will always smile and remember how he would sing his heart out at karaoke <3. Rest In Peace, friend.

Kind, Helpful, Patient, Dedicated are just some of the qualities James possessed. He truly was a genuine guy. He cherished his family. He was always proud to chat about his kids and their special qualities. Michele truly made him a happy man. They made a great team. My heart hurts for their loss. James was a rock start RN. He was always willing to help others and went above and beyond for his patients. His loss to our NHRMC family is great. I considered him a true friend. Continued prayers for you Michele, and kids, and other family he leaves behind.

James was such a smart and caring person. It was a sense of relief to come in and see that he was one of the C2R2s for the night because you could go to him with any patient concerns and questions and he wouldn’t make you feel small. His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. NHRMC will not feel the same.

James was such a fun & loving addition to our family. One night when my mom, sister and I were visiting, we went to a karaoke night at The Reel Cafe in North Carolina. James was so brave in front of our family when he performed "In the End" by Linkin Park. That was when I knew he was an extraordinary person. He really set the tone for the rest of the night. It became a tradition whenever we came down to visit. Aunt Denise and Uncle Ricky even bought a karaoke set-up for their living room so we could perform with top notch equipment. We stayed up all night singing and rapping. James performed his favorite Eminem songs with the most heart and zero shame! Michele and James did many duets including "Steal my Sunshine" by Len and "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. Whenever I think of James I think of summertime, the beach, and throwback 90's jams. He was a phenomenal dancer, and chef. James made everyone around him feel comfortable to be themselves. We had many nights that were centered around loud music, screaming at the top of our lungs, dancing and moshing in Michele's kitchen. He was a dedicated nurse, father, and friend to all. I will miss him dearly. I am sending all my love to my beautiful cousin Michele, Aunt Denise, Uncle Ricky, Grandma, Grandpa, James' beautiful children and family. Rest In Peace James, we love you very much.

James was just that guy, when ever a patient was going bad and I would look up and see him coming down the hall with that quiet confidence he always portrayed I knew I could take a breath. I never had the privilege of working side by side with him on a daily basis, but the amount of knowledge, kindness, and patience he showed to everyone he touched is a testimony to the kind of man/RN he was. You will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children and all his family/co workers! RIP to an amazing person.
