Condolences for Nancy Sorgente

Nancy, even though we knew one another for a short time when we both lived in Leland, I treasure your memory as one who was compassionate, loving, and giving. My regret is that you were unable to visit me in my new home in Wilmington before your mobility was limited. Rest In Peace, Nancy—I will remember you as a good friend!

NANCY I was sadden to hear the news of the passing of my Aunt Nancy. Many years ago during WW 11 my Aunt Nancy and I spent lots of time together she was 13 years old and I was 7. She had a wonderful voice and loved to sing the songs of the day. I also had a pretty good voice so we both would sing songs together. The one song we often sang was " Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me" I can still see her beautiful smiling face as she sang that song. It was our favorite song. A couple of years after the war my Grandfather (Her Father) passed away and she took on the task of caring for her mother full time. Her 5 brothers and 3 sisters provided for her and her mother. She became a homebody and didn't venture out too much. After her mother passed away she met the love of her life John Sorgente of Brooklyn. Her brothers and sisters were not happy with her choice since John was considered a ladies man and they felt it was a bad match. Many in her family being very protective of her gave her a very hard time and wanted her to breakup with John. She was not swayed by the family and went on to marry john. After the marriage she stayed away from most of her family members and that began the feud which regrettably lasted until her passing. She eventually left her husband and went on to raise her two children, John and ----------. Many years have passed and the one sad regret I have is that I did not reach out to her and bring her back into my life. I do know however that my wonderful memories of her will never leave me. I also believe that the Good Lord has now returned her back with her lost family, husband and friends, That is what I believe Heaven is all about. Aunt Nancy May You Rest In Peace With Love your Nephew JoeD
