Knowing David for over 50 years I can witness to the fact he was a wonderful human being and a dear friend

Dave was the nicest man!! I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of working with him at the aquarium. My favorite memory of Dave is that he would always carry a small notepad in his back pocket with a small pencil (probably a golf pencil now that I think about it) and as he went through the aquarium completing his tasks he would check them off his list to ensure he didn’t miss anything. He would do this every week. He was very dedicated and always had a smile on his face. After my time at the aquarium, I would see Dave at the Echo Golf Course twice a week playing golf. I live in that neighborhood and I would see his car on Senior days, run into him when I walked my dogs, or occasionally we would end up at the club house at the same time. He would always joke about improving his golf game and then start laughing. Dave was a happy/special person and will definitely be missed by all that knew him.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to David's family for the loss of a tremendous and incredibly giving individual. I met and worked with Dave at the Fort Fisher aquarium since I started here back in 2004. He was every bit as excited to be here on his last day as he was the first day I met him. It was not uncommon to see him here on Thanksgiving mornings to help out while we are short staffed to make sure we can got home on time to see our families as well. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of your passing. You will surely be missed by all. There are so many family memories to cherish. We wish you could have been at the Family Reunion this year. I remember fondly of you giving me my first pet, a white rat rescued from the lab, I named Willard. We love and will miss you cousin David.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work alongside Dave nearly every Friday at the N.C. Aquarium during his years of tremendous service and support. Even as a volunteer, Dave beat nearly all of us to work each Friday and provided great confidence that animal coverage was good for that day. My condolences to Dave's family and friends. You'll be missed buddy!
