I remember Joe fondly. Doris and he made us very welcome at Harbor when we were new to Wilmington. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Joe and Doris were two of the first people I met when I began attending Harbor United Methodist Church. From that meeting in the Myrtle Grove Middle School gym a wonderful friendship was formed. We had so many great times working together at church on many meal functions. He was always such a father figure and I always got a energy boost any time I was in his company. His smile alone could light us all up. Nothing but love, peace and comfort to Doris and family.

Joe was like a father and was part of my childhood into adulthood. He was a caring, giving good man. He was a best friend to my dad. I am sorry for the loss for Doris and her family and Joe’s children. May he Rest In Peace.

I remember Joe loving to do Fish Fries with all his friends. Very thankful for his very first one for Harbor UMC to help raise money for the purchase of land. He was without a doubt a very loving and caring friend.

I cannot even begin to discuss the numerous acts of kindness Joe (and yes Doris) have given me through the years. Joe was an extended father to me after my father's passing in 1987 and I have many fond memories of him going out fishing and those wonderful Easter egg hunts, with real money. During his life with Doris he always went grocery shopping because she did not like to go. His love for her showed throughout their marriage of 47 years. His passing is a loss to all of us and I will always remember his love and kindness to family and extended family

Sweetest, kindest Christian heart-Joe was a true friend for many years. It will be difficult to see Doris without him, but he will be there to greet everyone he left behind. Enjoy Heaven, Joe. No one deserves that more than you. ❤️

Uncle Joe was so funny, generous and committed to his family. I'll never forget his Christmas Eve parties in Channel Haven. May his memory be a blessing to you all.
