We Say Shalom We say Shalom, and not goodbye, for Shalom is goodbye and hello and wholeness and peace all threaded together in one breath, and in one breath we too say goodbye...to a hand to hold, a kiss and a tight embrace, and in the same breath of Shalom we say hello to an ocean of memories and a rush of emotion, gratitude and sorrow, tears and laughter and trembling and fatigue all in one breath. -Rabbi Zoe Klein

Nancy was, is and always will be my “big sister” even though I out-distanced her by height by several inches, which I didn’t let her forget! A younger sister needs one or two perks. I have so many fun and funny memories of Nancy from our younger years, including my dad fishing us out of the Chattahoochee River just before sunset after Nancy talked my mom into letting us do a late afternoon “tubing” float through a north-metro-Atlanta section of the river. Not the best idea she ever had, but it was an adventure. After so many challenges later in her life, I have come to appreciate the saying “rest in peace.” Nancy, I hope you do truly rest in peace. And for her beautiful daughters, may Nancy’s memory always be a blessing to each of you. I remember Nancy telling me, after my first daughter was born, that life, when you’re a mom, does not get easier, but it gets better. I hope, Megan and Lisa and Kim, that you can take her words to heart. Your mom would want to know that you are living your best lives and continuing to be the wonderful sisters that you are to each other. We will all miss her, but we can let go of the sad, over time, and embrace the best of the Nancy we were blessed to have in our lives. Thinking of you all on today’s Mother’s Day, May 9, 2021. Love to all, Aunt Jan

So sorry to hear of your loss of Nancy. She was a special lady and a special nurse. I will never forget her kindness and dignity she showed my Dad at PMH the night I lost him. She certainly has a special place in heaven.

I worked with Nancy for many years at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw, NC. She was one of our night shift supervisors who always helped me take care our patients in time of need. I always enjoyed working with her. Nancy was a great person, a great lady, a great leader and a great nurse. My deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies go out to her family. Rest in peace, Nancy. Heaven gained another beautiful angel of mercy. Love, Donna Thigpen, RN
